Birds of Acacia
Birds of Acacia
A popular depiction of birds in ancient Egypt can be seen on the wall of Khnumhotep II's Dynasty XII tomb at Beni Hasan. The tomb owner is shown capturing waterfowl with a clap-net, while these lovely birds sit on branches of two acacia trees that surround the pond. The closer tree is intricately detailed, likely due to its distance from the ground, resulting in a well-preserved scene without the usual grey film.
